  1. Bowie Playhouse - "Nightwatch"

    March 24, 2017, 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM @ Bowie Playhouse

Unable to sleep, Elaine Wheeler paces the living room of her Manhattan townhouse, troubled by unsettling memories and vague fears. Elaine's terror grows as she sees (or thinks she sees) a murder committed in the townhouse across the way. After several "crying wolf" calls to the police, all to no avail, and a visit from a psychiatrist hired by her husband, Elaine may be on the verge of a breakdown. Should Elaine commit herself to a sanitarium for treatment? From this point on, the plot moves quickly and grippingly as those involved—Elaine's old friend and house guest Blanche; the inquisitive and rather sinister man who lives next door; and the nosy German maid Helga—all contribute to the deepening suspense and mystery of the play as it draws toward its riveting and chilling climax.

  2. Weed Warrior Work Day at Major Lansdale Park

March 25, 2017, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Major Thomas Lancaster Lansdale Park - Park near entrance sign behind TD Bank

The City of Bowie’s Green Team is in need of volunteers to help remove English ivy from Major Lansdale Park. As an invasive, non-native plant, English ivy spreads quickly and easily, and is very destructive to native ecosystems. This is an outdoor activity that requires cutting the ivy vines at eye-level and foot-level, then pulling them back about two feet from the base of the tree to bag them. To participate, please register by contacting Kristin Larson (klarson@cityofbowie.org, 301-809-3044). This is a great Student Service Learning opportunity. Children age 14 and younger must be under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian or Troop Leader at all times, and no volunteers under age 16 can use tools but may participate by pulling and bagging vines.
