Senior Citizen "Green" Housing Rehabilitation Program
The Senior Citizen “Green” Housing Rehabilitation Program is a federally funded grant program that provides financial assistance to single family—senior citizen homeowners with limited financial means. The purpose of the grant is to provide energy efficiency related upgrades and repairs to correct hazardous conditions, eliminate safety hazards, repair or replace major systems, correct interior and exterior deficiencies, energy improvements, modifications for persons with disabilities and eliminate lead based paint hazards.
Goals of the Senior Citizen "Green" Housing Rehabilitation Program
The goals of the program are consistent with the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development’s goals for the Energy Star Program which are as follows:
Help seniors make energy efficiency related improvements to their homes.
Reduce home operating cost.
Reduce health hazards
Improve indoor air quality
Increasing property value
Improving outlook on life
There are a limited number of grants available and the maximum grant amount is $10,000. Eligible improvements include: roofing, siding, insulation, windows/doors, HVAC systems, energy star appliances, mobility installations, electrical upgrades and plumbing repairs.
